This was an event logo I designed for a marathon race that was held at the Port of Catoosa in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Problem:

The port wanted to put on a 5K and 10K marathon race for all the employees, spouses and the local community to raise awareness and encourage fitness-related activities. They wanted an event logo that included pieces of their normal logo such as the tugboat and the waves that would be recognizable to the local community.

The Solution:

I designed a logo that utilized original artwork from their existing logo but also included promotional text and artwork for the event that yielded an event logo that was recognizable yet clearly promoted the upcoming race with an on-brand appearance. I utilized a display font that matched the serifed fonts they use commonly with their branding. The display font also had a nice whispy feel that was a good choice to complement the softly flowing waves artwork as well. Additionally, I included a knockout silhouette of a runner appearing to run beside the waves helping to indicate the nature of the event. This finished event logo was used to produce T-Shirts for the event and was printed on other memorabilia and will likely be used for annual port marathon events going forward.
